Kiley Donovan: Senior Spotlight

1) Year you became a Pirate: JK - 2011
2) Top favorite things you participated in at SES: Varsity Golf Team, Powderpuff, Pals Day
3) Favorite SES memory: My favorite SES memory was when I was at Districts for golf during my senior season and getting to the last hole after having a horrible day and seeing Dr. Mohr waiting for me to be done. It was a rough hole and my score was pretty high, but I made a 10 foot long putt and everyone was silent except Dr. Mohr. He screamed "YES" at the top of his lungs and it made everyone including myself laugh hysterically. I genuinely believe that the whole course heard him cheer. That one moment made my horrible day on the golf course worth it!
4) Favorite class and/or teacher: My favorite teacher at SES is Mrs. Nelson. She is the kindest person I have ever met and has helped me with many problems for both her class and my personal life. I remeber when a college acceptance letter was being released and I laid on her floor for 20 mins since I almost passed out. During those 20 mins she gave me reassurance and confidence in myself and my academics. I took both classes Marine Science and Ecology and they were periods of my day I looked forward too. She would have amazing labs where we would go kayaking or exploring different kinds of habitats. Mrs. Nelson has helped my understanding and love for Marine life grow while helping me become a better person.
5) Proudest SES achievement: Taking part of a Marine Ecology research project that got accepted into the Indian River Symposium and presenting our work to other scientists.
6) Piece of advice for current SES students: Always try to find the positives. Even in tough situations sometimes finding small positives can make the world of a difference.
