Competitive Matchup Against Eagles for Varsity Baseball

On 4/23/24, the varsity baseball team hosted Calvary Chapel Academy in a competitive matchup on Blue Diamond Field. The thriller saw the Pirates down 0-2 at the bottom of the 1st inning, but the team shut the Eagles out in the 2nd inning. The Pirates rallied in the 3rd inning, collecting 4 runs and putting themselves within 1 point of their opponents. The Pirates continued to hold Calvary Chapel down in low-scoring innings, but they eventually fell to the Eagles 9-13 in the 7th inning.

Reid Morris put up 1 run, 2 hits, 1 RBI, and a double for the Pirate team; and Graham Hutton recorded 2 runs, 2 hits, and 1 RBI and stole 1 base. Trey Dunlap provided 2 runs for the Pirates. Jacob Arbelaez contributed 1 hit and 1 run, and Jaden Jackson saw 1 run and 1 RBI. Noah Hernandez, Zavier Solano, and Liam Dyer added 1 RBI apiece; and Christian Alfonso and Luke Cozad each had 1 run.

In field stats, catcher Morris collected 13 putouts, 2 assists, and 1 double play. Patrick Gross put forth 2 putouts and 3 assists for the Pirates, and Hutton ensured 4 putouts. Hernandez saw 2 assists, and Dunlap had 1 putout and 1 assist. Dyer also recorded 1 putout for the team. At the mound, Gross pitched for 5.2 innings and tallied 9 strikeouts, and Dunlap pitched for 1.1 innings and recorded 2 strikeouts.
