2014 Hall of Fame Ceremony
On Friday, October 24, 2014, Saint Edward’s School inducted four new members into Athletic Hall of Fame. The evening ceremony will precede the School’s Homecoming football game. Athletic Director, Jeff Lamscha, himself a nominee, says, “Athletics, team-work, sportsmanship and the concept of sound mind, sound body have always been integral to the nature and philosophy of Saint Edward’s School. The formation of the Saint Edward’s Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes and honors past achievement by Saint Edward’s finest student athletes and coaches.” The four new inductees were selected from a pool of nominations submitted during the past year. Nominations were limited to Saint Edward’s School graduates of more than 10 years who received a varsity letter and coaches, administrators or friends who have served the athletic program for more than 5 years. The Selection Committee was composed of teachers, coaches, administrators, former student athletes, and parents.
Craig Stevens, Class of 1986. Craig played lacrosse, soccer and football all through his school years, but football was his first love. In the 1985 season he ran for over 1,800 rushing yards, scored touchdowns in 14 straight games, accounted for 367 Saint Edward’s points, and tied a state record with 20 consecutive 100 yard rushing games.
Darin Lockwood, Class of 1988. Darin attended Saint Edward’s School from kindergarten through 12th grade. He was a three sport athlete earning All-State honors in football, soccer and lacrosse. In his junior year, he was selected to by Teams USA to play soccer in Europe and the Soviet Union. Darin is currently in the process of moving back to Florida with his family.
Jack Plym, Class of 1984. Jack played varsity football for 4 years and was captain of the varsity basketball and football teams. He also was on the varsity tennis team in his freshman, sophomore and junior years.
Jeff Lamscha, Athletic Director. Jeff has been with Saint Edward’s School for over 32 years. He began his career teaching Lower School PE, and his responsibilities quickly increased to include boys’ soccer, football, baseball and girls’ varsity soccer. He coached girls’ varsity soccer for 25 years, accumulating a record of 306 wins, 142 losses and 36 ties. In 2008 Jeff was All-Area Coach of the Year and in 2012 and 2013 he was named FACA Coach of the Year. Jeff’s wife and two children are all Saint Edward’s School alumni.
The ceremony will take place in the Lower School PE field adjacent to the playground. Attendees are encouraged to remain on campus to attend the 2014 Homecoming football game against Trinity Christian Academy, scheduled for 7pm.
