Congratulations - Athletes for Month of August, September, and October
Our Athlete for the month of August is senior Will Sternberg, Athletes for the month of September are sophomore Ian Horvit and senior Catherine Campione, Athletes for the month of October are freshman Alexa Soderman and junior Liam Kavolius. Senior Will Sternberg has been on the varsity football team for two years. Will is a dominating player on the field in all three phases of the game, offense, defense, and special teams and also one of the team captains. In August he led the team in touchdowns, yards rushing, kick return yards, receiving yards and tackles. Wll consistently exhibits great character by embracing any role he is asked to assume.
Sophomore Ian Horvit has been on the varsity football team for two years and is a solid contributor in offense, defense and special teams. Whatever Ian's role he embraces it with superior effort and attitude. He leads the team in tackles, rushing yards and kick-off return yards for the month of September. Ian has become a leader through his attitude and actions.
Senior Catherine Campione has been on the varsity volleyball team for four years. Physically she leads the volleyball team in most statistical categories and is the emotional go-to person for the team. Sets played were 32, kills 47, kills per set 1.5, aces 24, digs 60, digs per set 1.9, and blocks 8 during the month of September.
Freshman Alexa Soderman has been on the varsity volleyball team for one year. Alexa has led us in aces, serving points, and hitting efficiency. She was second in kills and blocks and fourth in digs while playing in all 12 sets. During the month of October she had 12 aces, 24 serving points, .288 hitting efficiency, 25 kills, 1 block, and 23 digs.
Junior Liam Kavolius has been on the varsity cross country team for two years. Liam ran three races under the 20:00 minute pace to help led the Pirates. During one meet in October he ran a 19:40 to finish first in a dual meet and a 19:50 in a tri-meet and ran a personal best of 19:18 at the Sebastian River High School Invitational. Throughout the season he has kept a positive attitude and has emerged as a true leader for the Pirates.
