Students in the School's theater program attended their district competition last weekend where they received an excellent rating. The 1 Act Play took an Excellent, and Sophia Gulati,Kenzie Hall, Lucy Kleinschmidt and Olivia Millicevic all took Superiors for their Individual Events. Receiving Excellent on their Individual Events were David Gambee, Suzanne Jutras, John Inman, Kenzie Hall and Olivia Millicevic.
Sophomore Olivia Milicevic tells a great story of how it really feels to be standing in front of a panel of judges, "My experience in IE’s was first off, stressful and nerve wracking. Why say that? It’s because I had to know how to read the character’s emotions in the script to where I knew the character by heart. It is also because I had to make everything look perfect for the judges. I had to ennunciate when practicing my monologues because I’m horrible with my diction, even when I’m just talking to people. When I heard my named called to the front, I felt like I was going to puke to be honest. There were students just like me, who were prepared well enough but some other students were more prepared because they came from an all arts school. When I finished performing, I though I might get an excellent, which is below a superior but when Mrs. Baker announced that I got a superior, I remembered screaming in joy and jumping up and down with my friends who have already won superior. I never thought I could make it to states in all honesty. But maybe I have more potential than I thought I did?"
The Bakers are extremely proud of the hard work put forth by their entire groups of thespians and are thrilled with the competition results. #PiratePride
