From US English teacher and SES tutor program coordinator Louise Kennedy: National exam results are in for the students we tutor in Kenya. The Phildan Memorial Education Center sent six students, who work one-one-one with SES tutors, for national exams this year. This is a first for the school. The exams took place in October, and we have just received the results. Three students passed at the second highest level. This means they are entitled to attend a better high school at the county level. It's a very big deal. The other three students came very close to passing and will take the exam again. We are working with them and the next group of younger students to help prepare them. This exam result represents a new era for their small school. Helping students pass that exam is part of the mission of our tutoring group. We are so excited for Faith, Mary and Stacy to move onto the next stage in their educational growth. We will continue to work with the students who are retaking the exam and with those that we are still preparing. I am so proud of SES students' roles in helping these students achieve. What a wonderful result!
