MarineLab Bound: Exploring Florida Keys Reef Fish

Shelby Fontana
Excited fifth graders prepared for their upcoming trip to the MarineLab in Key Largo by studying 12 fish species commonly found in the coral reefs of the Florida Keys. As part of the project, each student selected a fish species to research, illustrate, and present to the class, while also sharing five interesting facts they learned. Some of the fish chosen by students included yellowtail snapper, Nassau grouper, barracuda and parrotfish. Students became more knowledgeable and even more excited about the fascinating marine life they hope to observe during their MarineLab experience.
