Varsity Baseball Battles with Berean for the Win
Varsity Baseball defeated Berean Christian School 13-12 on 3/21/19 at the Seminole Palms Sports Complex.
The Pirates struck in the first inning when Casey Richey tripled scoring Michael Mangieri. Travis Camp followed with a double scoring Casey Richey. In the second Mangieri singled to Right Field scoring Aidan Taylor and Aidan Heaney.
Despite falling down by four runs in the second inning, Berean Christian tried to fight back. They captured the lead in the bottom of the second inning, scoring seven. Pirates offense responded by putting up five runs in the fourth. The Pirates big bats were led by Casey Richey, Corey Richey, Zander Beare and Aidan Heaney, all driving in runs in the fourth inning. In the top of the sixth, the Pirates tied things up at 12 when Philip Huddy hit into a fielders choice, scoring Aidan Taylor. In the seventh, Aidan Taylor forced an error, scoring Camp to take the lead. Casey Richey and Travis Camp combined for a Pirates win on the mound.
The team had 11 hits in the game. Travis Camp, Casey Richey and Michael Mangieri all collected multiple hits for the Pirates. Camp went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Pirates in hits.
