Varsity Cross Country Participates in Prediction Race

The boys and girls cross country teams competed in a prediction race at John Carroll High School in Fort Pierce on 9/21/19.

In this race, students had to guess their completion times before the start of the 5K race. Those with the closest net times received awards, and the difference in predicted time and actual time was used to tally the team scores. Trickier still, racers were not allowed to use watches or to see their times at the mile marker.

The boys team edged the Rams 25-30. Christopher Schulze secured a 2nd place victory and was only 4 seconds off of his predicted time. William Munz earned 3rd place with a 7-second guess, followed closely behind by Wil Blackburn with an 8-second difference.

Although the Lady Pirates lost the net time team match 30-25, Hailey Rhymes nabbed 3rd with a net of 16 seconds, Bridget Nelson finished 4th with a net of 22 seconds, and Elise Mallon came in 5th with a net of 28 seconds.

Next meet is the Viera Classic at Viera High School in Melbourne on 9/28/19, starting at 7:15 AM.
