Attendance Policy Regarding Athletics

From the Student Parent Handbook

Each student-athlete is expected to attend every practice and game throughout the course of the season. If a student arrives at school after 8:15 a.m. without a doctor’s note, the student will NOT be eligible to participate in that day’s practice, game or activity.

Likewise, a student will not be eligible to participate if he or she leaves campus during School hours unless the student has a doctor’s appointment and brings in a note from the doctor to the Dean of Students prior to any game, practice or activity. Students who cannot participate are still expected to attend practice and/or game.

Also, please note that students who did not attend school, or left school early and did not return may not return that afternoon or evening to spectate at any game, practice or participate in any school-sponsored activity. When excused early from class (early dismissal) for an away game, students are responsible for class assignments, notes, etc. that are missed. (Please note that the lateness policy, in its entirety, applies to ALL extracurricular activities, including Theater, Chorus, Band, MUN, Mu Alpha Theta, etc.)

At the discretion of the coach, student-athletes, at any level, who have not attended practice or whose effort in practice is detrimental to the team dynamic will receive reduced or no playing time.

Also, if the student is not able to participate in a Physical Education class during the normal school day, then that student will not be allowed to participate in an inter-scholastic athletic contest that same day. It is the expectation of Saint Edward’s School that each student athlete will attend all practices and games.
