Spotlight on Varsity Boys Weightlifting

The varsity boys weightlifting team had a very successful spring season, traveling to four meets before the season was halted. Most of its members hit their own personal record milestones more than once, with a majority of the team being able to go 6 for 6 in their events. Despite having only a small amount of meets, the athletes collectively managed to bring home two 4th place wins, three 3rd place wins, and two 2nd place wins in their individualized weight groups.

Coach Les Rogers heads the varsity boys weightlifting team at Saint Edward's School. Please click on the headline above to view Coach Rogers's thoughts on this season's athletes.

Coach Rogers expressed the following optimistic outlook regarding the boys weightlifting team:

"Even though the season was brought to a close earlier than anticipated there were many positive things going on.  At least two lifters were hitting personal records at each meet we did have.  There were a couple of meets at which every lifter hit at least one personal record and several had gone 6for6 while also hitting personal records.  The guys were learning to feel and appreciate the rewards of their hard work.  With more of that consistent hard work during the off-season and through next fall, next year may well produce one of the best overall teams that we've ever had.  I am very much looking forward to seeing what the hard work can do.  Have a great summer, and see you in the fall."

Saint Edward's School looks forward to seeing the great things you accomplish next season, Pirate Lifters!
