GREETINGS FROM OUR NEW HEAD OF SCHOOL

Maria Segura
Dear Saint Edward’s School Alumni:

As I write this letter, students are shuffling along campus on their way to their next class. The campus is abuzz again with the laughter and chatter of students, albeit socially distanced and with masks on. We are so proud of the work we did over the summer to make the transition back to campus and are hopeful our work will allow us to remain on campus in the days, weeks and months ahead.

My wife, Mimi, and I are thrilled to be a part of this community. I look forward to being able to connect with local alumni in town or at various regional events or over a coffee or lunch while you are visiting. I want to get to know you and your families and can’t wait to hear your stories about your time at Saint Edward’s. Your stories are important in helping me understand the why that makes Saint Edward’s such a special place.

Saint Edward’s School is in a healthy position both financially as well as from a programmatic standpoint. I am blessed to follow in the leadership footsteps of Mike Mersky and will work with a strong Board of Trustees, Leadership Team, Faculty and Professional Staff to continue to provide careful stewardship of our resources while looking to the future as we continue to strategically enhance the School and its programs for the next generation.

Finally, I hope you and your families are safe and healthy during these uncertain times. Please know that I cannot wait to finally meet you all and to thank you in person for all you have meant to this Pirate Ship. Until then, we at Saint Edward’s will be walking through campus with masks and hand sanitizer but smiling no doubt, because we are happy to be back on campus and together again. We have a new hashtag that is guiding us this year #WorkTogether2BTogether. My hope is that by working together, you and I can be together soon!

Go Pirates!

Sincerely,

Stuart Hirstein, Ed.D.
