JV Volleyball Serves Up Season Opening Win

The junior varsity volleyball team hosted Covenant Christian School for their season opener on 9/17/20 in the Wachter Activities Center. The Lady Pirates showed true grit on the court, overcoming the Lady Lions in two sets: 25-22, 25-11.

Eager to get their season underway, the team started their match with opening night jitters and fell behind early on against the Lady Lions. However, they quickly rallied, thanks to aggressive play from middle blockers Caroline Zoltak and Meagan Baker. Strong defense from libero Amira Hussamy and defensive specialist Jasmine Nunez helped the Pirates rebound and claim victory in the first set.

The girls' adrenaline carried over into the second set as the team was led by 8 service Aces from setter Kelly Barnett. Solid leadership from court captain Ivy Yang and exceptional play from the entire group allowed the Lady Pirates to dominate the second set, culminating in a well-deserved victory for the team.
Next game is at home in the Wachter Activities Center on 9/18/20 versus Somerset College Prep Academy, starting at 5:30 PM.
