Varsity Football Revels in Senior Night Success

On 10/2/20, the varsity football team played their first home game of the season against Cedar Creek Christian School. The Pirates, who were also celebrating their Senior Night, emerged triumphant with a resounding 35-6 victory over the Soldiers.

Offense highlights: Senior Drew Sternberg was 5 for 5 on extra points and kicked 5 of 6 kick-offs into the end zone. Sternberg also returned a fumble 47 yards to score, acquired 77 yards on 5 carries, and completed an 11 yard touchdown run. Junior Connor Wolfe caught 2 touchdown passes from senior Brennan Wolfe and one from quarterback Dylan Redmon. As a whole, the Pirates rushed for 107 yards on 15 carries and threw for 78 yards, for a total of 185 yards.
 
Defense highlights:  The Pirate defense was led by senior linebacker Colin Krieger, with 8 tackles and 3 assists. Sophomore Josh Langsam collected 9 tackles, 2 assists, and 3 quarterback sacks as well. Also contributing to the defensive line were Ashton Noe with 7 tackles and 2 assists; Grant Domenech with 6 tackles, 2 assists, and a quarterback sack; Leonardo Wang with 2 sacks; and Gavin Rooney with a quarterback sack.

 
Next game will be away on 10/8/20 in Lecanto versus Seven Rivers Christian School, starting at 7:00 PM.
