Collaborating Through Technology to Engage with Peak

Before reading Peak, seventh grade English students worked on creating a mental framework to enhance comprehension. They built background knowledge by watching an interview with the author, Roland Smith, and sharing what inspired and surprised them on Jamboard. They also compared and contrasted the American book cover with the French book cover, collecting their thoughts on a class Answergarden. Finally, they worked in groups on a Google Doc to research an aspect of the book such as Nepal or mountain climbing equipment and presented their findings. Prior knowledge activated. Reading ready to begin!
