Mei Bao-He Podcast Addresses Legal System Flaws

MB/JB (lk)
This week's Technical Theatre podcast highlights junior Mei Bao-He. She says, "My podcast takes a dive into an infamous court case that occurred in Great Britain during the late 1990s. Sally Clark, the defendant, was wrongly convicted of murdering her two children through the use of incorrectly calculated statistical evidence. In my podcast, I discuss the many flaws associated with this case, including purposefully withheld evidence and the misuse of statistics in court. Near the end, I talk about the aftermath of her case and how we can work to prevent these false convictions from being made in the first place. The quote I use by Thurgood Marshall sums up my intent with this podcast: 'Where you see wrong or inequality or injustice, speak out, because this is your country. This is your democracy. Make it. Protect it. Pass it on.'"

Mr. Baker adds,  "Mei did a wonderful job putting the listener into the world of a legal system gone awry.  She found interesting and subtle ways to weave sound effects and other voices into the production to give it more gravitas.  Mei was meticulous in her work, going back for re-take after re-take to get exactly what she wanted and that effort really paid off!"
