MS Boys Basketball's Grey Team Nets Wins in Double-Header

On 12/9/22, the grey team for middle school boys basketball hosted a double-header before heading into their holiday break. In the first battle of the afternoon, the Pirates took on Calvary Christian Academy of Port St. Lucie in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center. With all hands on deck from the start of the game, the Pirates outscored the Panthers 16-6 in the first quarter. After falling behind in the second quarter, the Pirate team rallied in the third quarter to hold back the Panthers and rendered their opponents scoreless in the fourth quarter to ensure the 39-17 Pirate victory.

The Pirates were led in scoring by Dylan Colontrelle with 13 points. Robert Williams had an explosive third quarter, racking up 7 points for the team. Teammates Mac Antle, Syrus Cooper, and Reid Morris chipped in 4 points apiece, while Bobby Varricchio sank 2 points toward the victory. Nicky Golden and Chris Campbell each added 1 point to finish off the Panthers.

Heading to the Wachter Activities for their second contest of the night, the Pirates faced off against Imagine Schools at South Vero. Allowing only 1 shot and 1 free throw in the entire game, the Pirate team pillaged the Manatees on the court and held their opponents to a scoreless second half to win the game 46-3. The Pirates end the first half of their season with a 5-0 record.

Cooper ruled the court against the Manatees with 14 points, and Campbell followed with 9. Williams and Colontrelle netted 6 points apiece, and Morris sank 5 points for the Pirate team. Golden also collected 2 points toward the victory. Helping shut down the Manatees on the court with their impressive defensive effort were Cooper, Golden, Jack Timmermann, and Campbell.
