New Athletic Director Announced

Dr. Hirstein was happy to announce this week that the School has a new Athletic Director arriving in July. Eileen Pliske was selected from a competitive pool of twenty-one applicants who were chosen by the search firm, Southern Teachers Agency, to apply for the position.
Mrs. Pliske is currently the Associate Athletic Director at Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, a position she has held since 2010. She has served as the Head Varsity Girls Lacrosse coach at Pine Crest since 2006. Prior to her time at Pine Crest, Mrs. Pliske worked at North Broward Preparatory School in Coconut Creek, FL as the Varsity Girls Lacrosse coach as well as a teacher at Kraft Elementary in Hampton, VA. Mrs. Pliske played Lacrosse collegiately at Loyola College in Baltimore, MD. 

In 2011, Mrs. Pliske was selected to the South Florida Chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame as a Truly Great Coach. 

The search committee was impressed with Mrs. Pliske’s vision, calm demeanor, and commitment to her coaches and student-athletes. The President of Pine Crest, Dr. Dana Markham, states “Eileen makes a tremendous effort to connect with our students; they seek her guidance and truly appreciate her knowledge both on and off the field. She has a clear understanding of the importance of athletics, and her high level of emotional intelligence permeates everything she does. Eileen will be greatly missed at Pine Crest.”

Saint Edward’s Head of School, Dr. Stuart Hirstein, states “We are fortunate to have someone of Eileen’s caliber in the role of Athletic Director at Saint Edward’s. Eileen clearly understands the positive, impactful role athletic opportunities can have for students, and she understands how to operate a large program. Eileen is well-respected by her peers within the Florida High School Athletic Association.”
