Parents, please be aware that practices for fall athletics start before the first day of school. In fact, if your child plays or wants to play varsity basketball or lacrosse, there are some opportunities for conditioning throughout the summer. On May 4, 2019, the varsity girls and boys tennis teams had their annual banquet at the Vero Beach Tennis and Fitness Club celebrating their great season. Winning coaches awards were Miranda Morey, Amira Hussamy, RyanNiederpruem and Jake Damiani (not pictured.)

Senior goalie Britt Reisman was a finalist for Player of the Year for Boys Soccer. Congratulations on your accomplisments as student athletes!
Congratulations to our athletes Elise Mallon and Riker Pratt who are our athletes for the month of March.
Junior Elise Mallon has been on the varsity girls lacrosse team for three years. She began her transition from low defense to defensive midfielder this year, and she immediately made her presence known across the whole field. During five games in March, many of which found the team short-handed due to illness, Elise scored 4 goals and an assist, fielded 15 ground balls and 7 draw controls, caused 6 turnovers and blocked 2 shots. Often playing through injury, she set a great example for grit, determination, and coolness under pressure.
Freshman Riker Pratt has been on the varsity boys lacrosse team for two years. He is 69% FO percentage, 110 wins, 50 losses. His efforts at the face-off has strengthened our overall ability to execute our game plan.
After winning the District Title for the third straight year by defeating Martin County High School last week 16-6 at Vero Beach High School, the boys' varsity lacrosse team goes on to play in the Regional Quarterfinals vs Jupiter High School in Jupiter tonight, April 26 at 7 P.M. Congratulations, once again, to the varsity baseball team on their picture perfect walk-off ending in victory over Lake Worth Christian from Boynton Beach at home on 4/23/19 by a score of 5-4. The Pirates took their game in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning to topple the Defenders of Lake Worth Christian. The Pirates were down 4-1 when they notched three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie up the game. The offensive onslaught came from hits by Travis Camp, Michael Mangieri, and Aidan Burdick, a walk from Anand Chundi and sacrifice by Casey Richey. In the bottom of the eighth inning Mangieri singled to right field on the first pitch, scoring Camp for the win. Richey started on the mound with Camp and Burdick combining for relief out of the bullpen.
The middle school tennis team continued its winning ways on 4/23/19, defeating Sebastian River Middle School at Sebastian River High School in Sebastian. Pirate singles players won 16 individual matches, lost two and tied one. In doubles, the Pirates won 10 of 11 matches, bringing the overall win-loss-tie count to 26-3-1. Competing in the Sebastian River Middle School match were Will Russell, Luke Damiani, Elliotte Kahler, Taran Taylor, Drew Hurley, Jacob Emmons, Dhanika Perez, Isobel Kennedy, Bella Jazarevic, Caroline Zoltak, Jasmine Nunez, Nicky Colontrelle, Mariana Box, Rushil Sura, Mary Caroline Lloyd, Ethan Ball, Marlon Dato-Slattery and Giovana de Sousa.
The Middle School tennis team hosted a combined Oslo Middle School and Saint Helen’s School team on 4/18/19, at Riverside Park Tennis Courts. The Pirates were victorious in 15 of 16 singles matches and 8 of 8 doubles matches for a 23-1 final score. Players who took part in the Oslo-Saint Helen’s match were: Taran Taylor, Luke Damiani, Elliotte Kahler, Drew Hurley, Jacob Emmons, Dhanika Perez, Bella Jazarevic, Caroline Zoltak, Nicky Colontrelle, Alexandra Henriquez, Rushil Sura, Mariana Box, Marlon Dato-Slattery, Jasmine Nunez, Ethan Bal, Chase Nelson and Giovana de Sousa. Saint Edward’s now has a 2-0 team match record.
Casey Richey threw a gem on 4/16/19, for the varsity baseball team who defeated Berean Christian School from West Palm Beach at home by a score of 3-0 for their seventh win in a row this season. The pitching was strong on both sides, but the Pirates got their offense started in the first inning when Travis Camp walked and Casey Richey singled. The team followed up the single with walks drawn by Aidan Taylor and Corey Richey. Richey and Camp scored on wild pitches giving the Pirates a 2-0 lead. Richey scored in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice by Taylor. Casey Richey earned the win for the Pirates, throwing a complete game, allowing only two hits while striking out six and walking zero. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits.
Varsity Boys Lacrosse defeated Pine School from Hobe Sound in the semifinal round of districts 12-5 which was held at Vero Beach High School on 4/16/19.
Leading the Pirates were Riker Pratt with 3 goals and 1 assist, Josh Pusser with 1 goal and 3 assists, Oscar Lindenthal 3 goals, Reid Bartosch 2 goals, Luke Jayne 2 assists, Ryan Bird 1 goal and 1 assist, Brennan Wolfe 1 goal, and Danny Richmond 1 assist.
Goalie Liam Murphy had 4 saves on 9 shots on goal.
The varsity baseball team defeated Fort Pierce Westwood High School from Fort Pierce at home on 4/15/19, by a score of 5-3.
The Pirates got things moving in the second inning when Aidan Heaney singled scoring Zander Beare. The team scored three runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from a single by Michael Mangieri and a fielder's choice by Travis Camp. The Pirates saw the ball well today, racking up seven hits in the game. Camp and Mangierieach collected multiple hits for the Pirates. Camp was the winning pitcher for the Pirates. He surrendered one run on two hits over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Casey Richeythrew two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Richy recorded the last six outs to earn the save in the teams sixth straight win.
Varsity Baseball took an early lead that helped the Pirates defeat Covenant Christian School at West Oaks Park in Palm Bay on 4/12/19, by a score of 17-8 making five wins in a row.
Travis Camp walked and then scored on a round ball by Zander Beare in the first inning. The team pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning which started with a single by Aidan Taylor and Will Miller, walks by Philip Huddy and Travis Camp and a single by Beare scoring two runs. Huddy and Taylor both collected multiple hits for the Pirates. The Pirates offense collected nine hits and put additional runners in place with nine walks.
The Pirates ran wild on the base-paths, stealing 11 bases against Covenant Christian in the high-scoring affair. Corey Richey started on the mound and pitched the team to victory. He surrendered eight runs on six hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven. Casey Richey threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Casey recorded the last four outs to earn the save for the Pirates.
