How do I register for camp?

What is the deadline for registration?

You can register for JRA Camps until 5 p.m. on the Thursday before a session starts (pending availability). Pending camp availability, registrations after the Thursday 5 p.m. deadline are subject to a $50 late registration fee.

Please contact our camp office via telephone (772) 492-2106 to inquire about late registration availability for a particular camp. Unfortunately, in the interest of keeping campers safe and due to camp logistics, we are not able to accept same-day on-site registrations.

Many camps fill their enrollments very early in the Spring. How do I know if a camp is full already and how does the waiting list process work?

If you are trying to register online and a camp is full, the system will notify you that you are being placed on a waiting list. If you are placed on a waiting list, no payment is required.

If space becomes available in the camp your child is waiting on, the Jolly Roger Adventures Team will call you to see if you would still like to fill the opening or if you would prefer to pass the opening to the next person on the waiting list.

My camper will not be able to attend the full week of camp, is that OK?

Because our camp curriculum builds upon itself over the course of a week, we do not recommend campers missing days of camp. That said, we understand that summer schedules can be very busy, so if your camper needs to miss a portion of a camp program, we can accommodate that.

We cannot, however, prorate the cost of camp programs, and we are not able to offer makeup days for missed portions of camp.

What are the differences between Flagship Camps, Enrichment Camps, Academic Camps and Sports Camps?

Flagship Camps are week-long, camp programs. Each Flagship Camp session features an adventure-filled weekly theme, and campers engage in unique arts and athletic activities that are congruent with that week’s theme. During the registration process, campers are able to select their Water or Day Camp. Campers are divided into groups by age, and activities are tailored to be developmentally appropriate for each group. Each Flagship Camp has a particular grade range for participants, from pre-kindergarten through ninth grade (in the upcoming school year).
Enrichment Camps are typically weeklong, half-day camp programs (9 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.) where campers can immerse themselves in a specific topic related to academics or fine arts. There are some full-day options and as always you are welcome to stack morning and afternoon sessions to create a full-day experience. Enrichment Camps are hosted by Saint Edward’s School faculty/staff and select educational professionals from the Vero Beach community. Each Enrichment Camp has a particular grade range for participants, from pre-kindergarten through ninth grade (in the upcoming school year).
Academic Camps are weeklong, half-day camp programs (9 a.m.– 12 p.m. or 12:30 p.m.– 3:30 p.m.) where campers have the opportunity to get prepared for the upcoming academic year!
Sports Camps are weeklong, half-day camp programs (9 a.m.– 12 p.m. or 12:30 p.m.– 3:30 p.m.) where campers have the opportunity to explore interests or even work on skills and drills.

What should my camper bring to Jolly Roger Adventures Camps?

Campers should bring a refillable water bottle and are strongly encouraged to wear sunscreen to camp. Campers are welcome to bring additional sunscreen for reapplication throughout the day.

Campers who are attending a full day of programming are provided with lunch. Please make sure you label everything with your camper’s name! More detailed packing lists can be found below.

What does JRA do to help manage food allergies?

JRA has detailed safety procedures for managing camper allergies. Each staff member is trained in identifying allergic reactions and proper usage of EpiPens. Staff members are briefed on camper allergies before the start of each week of camp, with our camp nurse overseeing the distribution of each camper’s allergy-management plans to our staff.

Snack and lunch breaks are closely monitored by our camp staff, including the camp nurse. In the interest of preventing exposure to allergens, campers are not allowed to share food with each other.
