Available Facilities

Pirate Stadium

The Michael J. Mersky Field (Pirate Stadium) is Saint Edward’s School main game field. The playing surface is approximately 65 x 120 yards. The stadium has lights for evening games. Spectator stands will seat approximately 950 people.

Pool

The newly reopened Becker pool is the perfect place for community aquatics programs, collegiate winter training, birthday parties, sports events and more. 10 lanes 25 yards (short-course) 2 lanes 20 yards (4 ft depth) 8 lanes 25 meters 2 lanes 32 meters (long-course).

Waterfront

Saint Edward's School is located on the beautiful Indian River Lagoon with our own access point and dock. We have two pontoons, a Cobia and Blue Whaler as well as two jet skis, over a dozen kayaks and paddle boards. This space is available to rent by consultation and requires approved lifeguards and certified drivers to be present.

Classrooms

Large Classroom: Seating is available for approximately 60 people.

Small Classroom: Seating is available for approximately 15-25 people.

Wachter Activities Center

The Wachter Activities Center is an air conditioned gym with rubber flooring. Equipment for basketball and volleyball is available. In addition, there is a wood stage and retractable bleachers. The spectator bleachers will seat approximately 200 people. A fully equipped institutional kitchen is available. Banquet seating will accommodate approximately 300 people.

Gonzalez Lobo Activities Center

The Gonzalez Lobo Activities Center is an air conditioned gym with wood flooring. Equipment for volleyball and basketball are available. Locker rooms and fitness rooms are conveniently located adjacent to the gymnasium. Spectator stands will seat approximately 240 people.

Lower School Courtyard

Our Lower School Courtyard spans about 1,000 sq. ft. This inviting area includes open and covered sections, eight benches and plenty of space for tables, chairs or other setup needs. Rentals are subject to approval by school administration.

Baseball Field

The Blue Diamond baseball field has a Bermuda grass outfield, clay infield and base paths, enclosed dugouts and lights for evening events. Spectator stands will seat approximately 100 people.

Peter B. Benedict Library

The Peter B. Benedict Library accommodates a small reception of approximately 50-65 people.

Practice Fields

The two Bermuda grass practice fields are approximately 50 x 80 yards and 70 x 100 yards. Combination soccer/football goals are located at each end of the fields.

Parking Lots

Saint Edward's has two gated parking lots. Our main lot has more than 260 available spots, including bus and trailer parking and our lower school lot with just over 20 spaces offers private parking and access to our loading dock.

Playground

Our playground (soon to be state-of-the-art) is available to rent for small groups looking for an adventurous location with age-appropriate options for everyone. This space includes 6 polywood picnic tables, a half size basketball court and access to both water fountains and bathrooms as requested.

Featured Venue

Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts

The Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts is an 808-seat theater divided into five seating divisions; each division includes an orchestra and mezzanine section. Mezzanine seating requires stair access.

The main curtain fully open has a 70-foot proscenium opening and a depth of over 45 feet with three pairs of fully-adjustable black curtained legs, back curtain, white cyclorama and a mid-stage traveler. The stage is adjustable to create the perfect setting for any event. Blue LED aisle lighting provides additional comfort and security.

Rental applications for The Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts may be submitted up to one year in advance of the first performance date. The Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts is an educational facility used daily by students and faculty; consequently, weekdays or excessive time in the facility will seldom be provided for preparation work, set construction or rehearsals. If additional time is approved by school administration, charges will apply.

The Waxlax Center provides 808 audience members with comfortable, unobstructed viewing of the stage. The naturally rich and precise acoustics can be augmented by a superior sound system that includes front and rear fill speakers with additional right and left sub-woofers. A front-of-house catwalk is equipped with 48 installed DMX-capable, twist-lock dimmers. The Technical Booth operates from a distance of 60-feet from the lip of the stage.

The Waxlax Stage floor is a sprung dance floor; both the varnished blonde maple thrust (11 x 70) and the black ¾ plywood floor (plaster line to rear wall) assure safety for professional dance troupes.

A 19ft high x 24ft wide motorized projection screen is permanently installed at the main curtain line where it can be discreetly hidden when not in use. From the technical booth, a Christie D16HD-HS projector delivers a clear picture with equalized adjustable sound. Presenters have the ability to control their own projections from the floor from their computer via HDMI or USB-C.

The Waxlax Center is equipped with an open booth where a sound engineer can mix on a Yamaha CL-5 72-Channel Digital Mixing Console. Lighting is controlled by an ETC Ion XE 20. On either side of the center room are two separate booths equipped with an Altman AFS-700 Follow Spot. Additionally, 2 Panasonic AW-HE130 Cameras with recording capabilities can provide a live stage television feed to the lobby and backstage dressing rooms and crossover. Up to 8 people can communicate with each other via our Eartec Ultralite Intercom Headset system.

The Waxlax Technical shop and ground-floor load-in are located to the rear of stage left. The technical shop is fully equipped (SawStop table saw, bandsaw, Dewalt Power tools, air compressor, etc) and can be available for renters on request.

The Waxlax Center is equipped with 2 large chorus dressing areas (26.5ft x 16ft) with two sinks, a single toilet, and a drinking fountain in each. Chorus dressing rooms are of ample size to comfortably hold the costumes and equipment for 20 actors. All dressing rooms have audio and video monitoring of the live stage.
