Excellent Coaching / Saint Edward’s coaches are dedicated educators, passionate about their sports and about bringing out the best in their athletes. Most were themselves accomplished collegiate and competitive athletes.
Exceptional Facilities
Along with the two gymnasiums, aquatic center and multi-use dock, highlights include two lighted fields, additional practice fields, and a state of the art weight room.
Competitive Schedules
Saint Edward’s 38 interscholastic teams face rivals from other Florida independent and private schools, including some of the region’s strongest programs.
The junior varsity baseball team hosted Sebastian River High School on Blue Diamond Field on 3/4/26. The Pirates got on the board in the bottom of the 1st inning after the Sharks committed an error, and the Pirates scored on a wild pitch. The Pirate team added to their early lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Nolan Ange singled, scoring 2 runs, and Caden Freedman hit a sacrifice fly, scoring 1 run. The Pirates scored 5 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the 5th inning. Christian Alfonso doubled, scoring 1 run, and Nicholas Leal singled, scoring 2 runs batted in. With a lengthy lead, the Pirates easily dispatched the Sharks 12-1.
Ange started on the hill for the Pirates and went 3 innings, giving up 1 run and striking out 5. At bat, Reid Morris led the team with 2 hits in 3 at-bats.
The middle school girls lacrosse team went up against Benjamin Middle School at home on 3/4/26 on the Michael J. Mersky Field. The Pirates gave a great effort against the Buccaneers until the second despite the 3-14 loss, putting into practice their defensive transition game, stick positioning, and dodging.
Lillian Pfennig scored 2 goals for the Pirate team, and Marley Bischoff netted 1 goal. Peyton Bittle recorded 13 saves against the tough and experienced Benjamin offense.
On 3/4/26, the varsity boys weightlifters went to Harmony High School in St. Cloud to compete in their last away meet of the season. In the Traditional category, St. Cloud High School scored 91 team points, Harmony scored 55 points, Poinciana High School scored 30 points, Celebration High School scored 23 points, and the Pirates scored 21 points. For the Olympic category, St. Cloud scored 99 team points, Harmony scored 51 points, Poinciana scored 25 points, Celebration scored 21 points, and the Pirates recorded 22 points. On 3/4/26, the middle school boys lacrosse team traveled to North Palm Beach to take on Benjamin Middle School. The Pirates put up a good fight on the game field but fell to the Buccaneers 6-7.
Scoring 2 goals apiece for the Pirate team were Shane Carroll, Weston Petersen, and Coleson Radecke. Leading the charge with 4 ground balls each were Alex Andrews, Petersen, Carroll, and Charlie Barnett. In goal, Harrison Brewster made 5 stops, and Noah Frisk had 8 saves.
The varsity boys tennis team headed to Martin County High School in Stuart on 3/3/26 to take on the Tigers on the court. The Pirates put away their opponents to bring home a 6-1 victory.
Winning singles matches for the Pirates were #1 Jose Robledo Pretelt (8-1), #3 Nick Weise (8-1), #4 Aneesh Chalasani (8-1), and #5 Luca Ilie (8-1).
The #1 boys doubles team of Robledo Pretelt/James Peponis won their matchup 8-1. Winning their #2 doubles match 8-1 to shore up the successful day for the Pirates was the team of Weise/Alex Mira.
Winning an exhibition singles match for the Pirates was Christian Peter (8-0).
On 3/3/26, the varsity girls tennis team traveled to Stuart to play against Martin County High School. The Pirates shut down the Tigers on the courts to win 7-0.
Winning singles matches for the Pirates were #1 Emmery Clarkson (8-5), #2 Chandler Higdon (8-3), #3 Jenessa Kendall (8-2), #4 Charlotte Peponis (8-2), and #5 Illyana Durkin (8-6).
Winning their #1 doubles match was the team of Clarkson/Higdon (8-3). Guaranteeing the straight sweep was the #2 doubles team of Peponis/Kendall (8-0).
Winning her exhibition singles match was Lucy Lynch (9-7). Winning their exhibition doubles match was the team of Elle Prezzano and Anabella Botero (8-5).
The varsity boys lacrosse team hosted Viera High School in Pirate Stadium on 3/3/26. The Pirates came out onto the field with victory in mind and led the Hawks 9-2 going into halftime. With their opponents never able to catch up, the Pirates handily secured the win, 16-6.
Taking charge on offense was Connor O'Brien, who brought in 7 goals for the Pirate team. Chris Campbell netted 3 goals in the effort, and Turner Barnett collected 2 goals. Tallying 1 goal each for the Pirates were Brady McCoy, Charlie Corrigan, Syrus Cooper, and Shane Carroll. Teddy Donohoe added 1 assist in the victory. Winning faceoffs for the Pirates were Matthew Vatland with 7 and Jackson Parker with 6. At the net, Edwin Provancher made 3 saves on 6 shots on goal, and Will Fox recorded 4 saves on 7 shots on goal.
Additional Pirate stats include 21 shots on goal and 27 groundballs.
On 3/3/26, the varsity girls lacrosse team went face-to-face with Saint Andrew's School from Boca Raton on the Michael J. Mersky Field. The Pirates remained determined on the field but ultimately fell to the Scots 3-10.
Scoring a goal apiece for the Pirate team were Margaret Fykes, who also recorded 1 assist; Blair Moore; and Bebe Busch-Dunford. Maddie Moscrip logged 14 saves at the net for a save rate of 58%.
We build rapport with our student-athletes creating an atmosphere for success, and teaching the proper values, skills and strategies. A love of activity starts with the Physical Education program, which begins in our Little Pirates (PreK-3) programs. Students then progress to middle school team sports and eventually varsity-level competition in the Upper School. Saint Edward’s School fields 42 teams in 22 sports and enjoys an enviable record of success.
