Support SES

The Saint Edward's Society

The Saint Edward’s Society is a financial aid program that helps support tuition costs for academically-gifted children in grades 6-12.  Each year a dozen or more qualified students are unable to attend Saint Edward’s due to lack of available aid.  Members of the Society agree to a minimum annual commitment of $20,000 and the understanding that the member will sponsor a student until he or she graduates.  The School offers need-based financial aid only and matches donors and students once the family qualifies for aid.
Since its inception, support from the program has totaled over $3.5 million and has assisted 96 students.  Without this support the academic potential of many of these students might not have been fully realized.  We require sponsored students to maintain a C average or better, participate in extracurricular activities, and demonstrate pride and enthusiasm in attending Saint Edward’s School.  Society scholars take full advantage of the opportunities offered.  Several are accomplished artists and thespians and belong to many clubs, including the Cum Laude Society, and many are athletes playing multiple sports.

We have funded some wonderful young people over the last 20 plus years and it has been rewarding for us  to see them flourish at Saint Edward’s. Many of our sponsored students arrived shy  and apprehensive, probably not sure of what they had gotten themselves into, but they blossomed as they adjusted to the new challenges and opportunities. The school has provided the highest academic, social and athletic opportunities for these young people. When our students have been accepted by elite colleges, that has been our ultimate satisfaction. There is something special to have one’s philanthropy up front and personal.
Graduate recipients of the Saint Edward’s Society have gone on to attend universities such as Duke, Elon, George Washington, Harvard, Lehigh, Rice, Stetson, Universities of Pennsylvania and Virginia, Wake Forest and Williams College.

The Saint Edward's Society offers a truly transformational experience. Personally, Saint Edward’s provided me with a step-change opportunity and platform to pursue and achieve my highest ambitions in the classroom and beyond, including enrollment at Harvard. I will be forever grateful to the generous support of the Society donors and look forward to the day where I join them in supporting other talented students through financial aid

As a Saint Edward's Society scholar I was able to integrate into a strong academic institution where I met some of the best teachers and friends in my life. Making the decision and having the opportunity to go to Saint Edward's set me up to be comfortable and confident in an academically competitive environment and, ultimately, take college by storm. Now as a professional, I can look back and appreciate the platform I was given to push me to get me to where I am today.

The Saint Edward's Society gives some of the brightest, most talented, and most deserving students the chance to advance their education to new heights. I can't imagine what my high school years would have been like without Saint Ed's - and Saint Ed's was only possible for me because of the generosity of the Saint Edward's Society.
