Exploring Cubism
We’re thinking about the Art History movement Cubism and its famous leader Pablo Picasso.
Picasso and the Cubists used this style of art to represent the fragmentation they saw reflected in the world in the years after the First World War. Cubism is still used today to question the way we see everyday objects and events.

In this project, we split up photos of everyday objects and recombined them in different ways. We explored the “essence” of certain objects and what makes them unique or recognizable. Students used pencil and color to make drawings of their remade objects.
In the results, you might see hints of animal faces, reflections in apples, corners of Rubix cubes, boxes full of succulents, rubber duck beaks, and tastes of wedding cakes…
