Sixth Grade Confession Poems

April is Poetry Month and to celebrate students in Mrs. Fykes’ Skills class were asked to read a confession poem by William Carlos Williams. (See below) They used this poem as a mentor text to write their own confession poems. The sixth graders confessed all kinds of things like stealing sweets, avoiding chores, and putting off homework.

This Is Just To Say by William Carlos Williams
I have eaten
the plums that were in
the icebox

And which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
