Pirates Tackle Land-Based Adventure

This past June, junior Thomas Baker, sophomore Owen Miller, and math teacher Chad Miller traveled with a group of 12 from Vero Beach Boy Scout Troop 567 to Philmont High Adventure camp in Northeast New Mexico. The 9 scouts and 3 leaders spent 12 days hiking and camping in the backcountry. In the photo, the three Pirates together after the climb (involving a brief hail storm) to Mt. Phillips with an elevation of 11,736 feet. After carrying up to 50 pounds daily and hiking over 50 total miles, the group grew together and created many wonderful memories.
