Varsity Track & Field Sees Historic Haul at Vero Relays

The varsity track and field team competed in the Vero Relays on 3/6/26 at Vero Beach High School. The Pirates captured 7 new school records and a wave of personal bests, marking one of the most succesful outing in program history. "It was a chance to set some new records, and they responded," noted the coaching staff. "To see seven records fall in one night speaks to the work these athletes have put in over the last several weeks. They officially completed the 'Kitchen Sink' phase of the season with a bang."

The girls team finished the meet 3rd overall. In the 1600m, Emma Ramsay secured a 3rd place finish at 6:38.72, and teammate Nahlia Hebig finished just behind in 4th with 6:51.01, with both athletes setting personal records. Savannah Shambo placed 5th in the 100m Hurdles at a personal best 20:46. In relay events, the 4x800 Relay team of Cadence Callaghan, N. Hebig, Jacquelyn Perrin, and Stephanie Storts seized 1st place with their time of 10:52.90. The Distance Medley relay team of N. Hebig, Callaghan, Storts, and Perrin took 1st place overall at 14:31.00, resetting the 2024 school record by nearly 20 seconds. Earning a silver medal in the 800m Sprint Medley Relay at 2:00.74 and breaking the 2024 school record were the team of Amajyn Cannon, Kayla Jeune, Rosi Neumann, and Perrin. The Pirates fielded two teams in the 1600m Sprint Medley Relay, with the team of A. Cannon, Neumann, N. Hebig, and Callaghan grabbing a 3rd place finish at 5:02.10, and the team of Jeune, Shambo, Storts, and Jaiya Hebig placing 5th with 5:17.80. The 4x400 Relay team of A. Cannon, Jeune, Shambo, and Storts placed 7th with 2:01.68, and the second 800m Sprint Medley Relay team (Milani Perez, Khloe Prochette, Tirzah Boulding, Niah Boulding) finished in 7th at 2:29.21. In field events, Stella Morris claimed the top spot on the podium with a 1st place finish in the Javelin, a personal best 23.46m. In Discus, T. Boulding shattered her previous personal record with her 21.28m throw to secure a 2nd place finish, and she brought in a 4th place finish in Javelin with her 17.55m mark. N. Hebig claimed a 4th place finish in the Long Jump with her 4.47m mark. Jeune finished 7th place in Discus with her 17.45m throw.

The boys team finished the day 5th overall. In track events, Kaan Mimaroglu placed 6th in the 1600m with 6:54.97. In relay events, the Distance Medley Relay team of Chris Perrin, Trey Donohoe, Cam Perrin, and Jack Curley smashed the previous school record by 1:28 to finish in 3rd place at 11:52.87. For the first time in school history, Saint Edward's School contested the Boys 1600m Sprint Medley Relay and 4x200m. Celebrating a 4th place finish in the 1600m Sprint Medley Relay and adding a starting place in the record books for the event were the relay team of Trip Williams, Jayzere Cannon, Donohoe, and Curley. The team of Cody Simmonds, Williams, J. Cannon, and Nicholas Rummel set the tone for future Pirate athletes with their 4x200 Relay finish time of 1:46.07, placing 7th. In the 800m Sprint Medley Relay, the team of J. Cannon, Simmonds, Williams, and Curley handily broke the 2023 school record time with their 1:49.79 finish to place 7th. Moving on to field events, Simmonds soared over the bar at 1.69m in the High Jump, adding 5 inches to a school record (1.57m) that was previously shared by Pirate alumni Tyler Ross '23 and Jay Leibik '25.
 
Next meet is away on 3/14/26 at the Bill Wilson Invitational, starting at 8:00 AM at Sebastian River High School in Sebastian.
