Varsity Boys Lacrosse traveled to Viera High School in Melbourne on 2/19/21 for their first game of the season. Hungry for a victory, the Pirate team downed the Hawks on the field, winning the game 6-3.
The team was led on the field by senior Brennan Wolfe, who created opportunities for the team to have the best field advantage to score. Freshman Will Russell, playing in his first high school varsity lacrosse game, scored his and his team’s first goal of the season in the 1st quarter. Freshman Stone Colgan stepped up as close defender and was an instrumental part in helping the team's defense protect the goalie. Freshman Harrison Hardin made several great plays throughout the game and specifically created some great opportunities for his teammates while the opponent was trying to clear. Midfielders Danny Richmond, Riker Pratt, Eli Barin, and Ricky Savage were key elements on the field for the team's impending triumph as were teammates Oscar Lindenthal and Jack Kincus. Senior Ryan Barnett helped push the Pirate team to victory by shutting down a Viera scoring threat for the entire game, and junior Riker Pratt clinched the win for the Pirates, scoring 3 goals.
Scoreboard highlights for the Pirates: Pratt - 3 goals; Savage - 1 goal, 2 assists; Lindenthal - 1 goal, 1 assist; Russell - 1 goal; and Liam Murphy (goalie) 6 saves on 9 shots on goal.
