Varsity Boys & Girls Tennis Finish 3rd in District Tournament

The varsity boys and girls tennis teams recently hosted the Class 1A District 8 Tournament at Riverside Park against the 5 other schools in their district: The Benjamin School, John Carroll Catholic High School, Master's Academy of Vero, Melbourne Central Catholic High School, and The Pine School.

The first day of the playoffs on 4/14/26 saw much competitive action on the courts for both teams as the boys remained close to Benjamin (10) and Master's Academy (9) with 8 team points, and the girls tied Pine with 5 team points, chasing behind Benjamin (10) and Master's Academy (8). Advancing to the Day 2 round of the tournament for the Pirates were #1 boys singles Jose Robledo Pretelt, #5 boys singles Luca Ilie, #1 boys doubles Robledo Pretelt/James Peponis,  #2 boys doubles Nick Weise/Ilie, #5 girls singles Jenessa Kendall, #5 girls singles Emmery Clarkson, #1 girls doubles Emmery Clarkson/Chandler Higdon, and #2 girls doubles Mia Maldonado/Kendall.

After a grueling Day 2 on the courts on 4/15/26, the girls team secured a solid 3rd place finish in the tournament, coming in behind Master's Academy of Vero Beach and The Benjamin School. The boys team also finished in 3rd place overall behind Benjamin and Master's Academy. Kendall secured a victory on the courts for the Pirates as the #5 girls singles District winner and was the only singles athlete amongst all of the competing teams for both boys and girls that beat a Benjamin athlete in the Finals. For the #1 boys singles, Robledo Pretelt finished the rounds as the District runner-up, and for #5 boys singles, Ilie finished as the District runner-up. In #2 girls doubles, Maldonado/Kendall finished as the runners-up.
