LS Student Council Rises Together

KH (lk)
Each year the Lower School Student Council does something to help our community. For the culmination of our Together We Rise project, students made 20 fleece blankets for bags to be given to children in the foster care program. Lily Totten from Place of Hope accepted the bags. This was an amazing project for our students to experience. Now 6th grader Carrie Jane Fykes, who participated in the program while in the LS, says, "Student Council made duffel bags full of blankets and toys for the foster kids, because they usually carry a trash bag full of their clothes. This made me feel good, because we helped kids who needed it." Payton Andrews added, "I was happy to take part in We Rise Together, because I wasn’t just thinking about keeping foster kids warm. I was also thinking about when they are going through a tough time that blanket could help them. It could bring them security and a sense of comfort. I really like being a part of something that gives back."
