Author Mike Lupica Visits Saint Edward's School

MJ (lk)
This week, SES partnered with the Vero Beach Book Center to help beloved author Mike Lupica launch his new middle school book, Strike Zone. His good friend and fellow author Carl Hiaasen joined him on stage to talk about their careers and their motivation to write and to encourage everyone in the audience to enjoy quiet time with great books. Their decades of friendship shone through in their entertaining banter, and they welcomed questions from aspiring authors.
Mr. Lupica told a story about how his launch from cub reporter to columnist happened because someone in the newsroom picked up a story he left on his desk, and it was shared, and resulted in a promotion. He told the audience, "Once you put your name on something, make sure it's the best you have to offer, because you never know who will look at it and share it." Good advice for writing and social media!
Our library currently has copies of Strike Zone and its prequel, Heat, available for students age 10 and above.
