Senior Chapel Talks Speaker Ben Evans

(lk)
Ben Evans, our third senior to speak in the Chapel Talk series, began his talk by asking his audience to imagine a world without self-limiting things like fear and self-doubt, one where you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Then he asserted that anything is possible... IF you can find a way to overcome your fears.

Ben confronted some of his fears last summer by participating in the most difficult youth military training program in the nation: the Naval Special Warfare Orientation Course. NSWOC is Run by Navy SEALs, Marines and Special Operations soldiers, and it is essentially an abridged version of Navy SEAL training. It was an intense experience that provided immeasurable learning opportunities and lessons. In the end, Ben overcame his fears, successfully completed the course and gained valuable new personal insight.

In closing, Ben asked everyone to close their eyes and conjure up one thing that scares them. Then think about how much that fear limits you, and how free you would be without it. Finally, he challenged the class for 2022 to face that fear, however big or small, because the benefits gained from the process will transform you. Thank you, Ben, for sharing this experience and challenging the class of 2022!
