Eighth-Grade MUN Makes Their Mark on the West Coast

SM
Fifteen members of the eighth grade attended the FMSMUN Conference this past weekend at Shorecrest Preparatory School in St. Petersburg. The delegates grappled with the important global topics of gender equality and improving health services for the disabled, and represented countries as diverse as Norway to Egypt to Cambodia. Students learned about the United Nations' procedures for writing position papers, as well as collaborating with new acquaintances for resolutions. All students gained an international perspective about many issues and were most successful as a delegation. We were also the largest delegation at the conference of 50 plus students. Genevieve Medalie served as a representative from Costa Rica on behalf of the UN Women committee and was recognized as the most improved delegate from her work throughout the conference - a tremendous honor for her extreme dedication!
