Varsity Volleyball Travels to Merritt Island Christian
The varsity volleyball team traveled to Merritt Island Christian School in Merritt Island on 8/31/23 to take on the Cougars. The determined Pirates fought hard in all 3 sets but ultimately were downed by the Cougars: 12-25, 22-25, 17-25.
Despite the loss, CJ Fykes had a big game with 4 kills, 2 aces, 9 digs, and 1 block, and Meagan Baker amassed 2 kills, 1 assist, 4 digs, and 3 blocks. Elliotte Kahler provided support for the team with 8 assists and 10 digs. A vital part of the defense, Makena Rodriguez, who also had 1 kill, recorded an impressive 27 digs for the Pirate, and teammate Natalee Rogers followed closely with 16 digs. Also helping out the Pirate team on the court were Khlieo Perez with 3 kills, 1 dig, and 1 block; Sommer Soderman with 1 kill and 9 digs; and Alice Crean with 1 kill and 2 digs.
