Varsity Football Stuns Panthers

On 9/5/24, the varsity football team hosted Pine Crest School on the Michael J. Mersky Field. The mighty Pirates team stopped the Panthers on the field to claim their third straight victory 30-7.

Nate Sparkman threw 3 touchdown passes in the matchup against the Panthers: 2 to Connor O'Brien and 1 to Nicky Colontrelle. Jaden Jackson was a big contributor in the run game for the Pirates, eclipsing the 100 yard mark. Jackson also collected 23 touches for 126 yards. The offensive line paved the way to victory with 185 yards on the ground and an additional 155 in the air. Kicker Marlon Dato Slattery made a 31-yard field goal for the Pirates in the 3rd quarter, and Amare McCoy added a 12-yard rushing touchdown in the 4th quarter to put the game away. 

Defensive efforts were led by junior Mark Moore, who led the team with 7 total tackles. The Pirate defense tallied 2 takeaways with an interception by O'Brien and a forced fumble by Beckley Waldrop that was recovered by teammate Merrit Kennedy.
