Varsity Football Takes on Cocoa Beach

The varsity football team hosted Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School in Pirate Stadium on 9/19/25. Despite being down 0-7 to the Minutemen by the end of the 1st quarter, the Pirates narrowed the gap to 12-15 going into halftime. The Pirates saw the Minutemen pull away to widen the gap 28-18 by the end of the 3rd quarter. The Pirates rallied in the 4th quarter, but it was not enough to pass their opponents, and the Pirates narrowly fell to the Minutemen 25-28.

Scoring points for the Pirates were Ivan Kelly with 2 rushing touchdowns, Dylan Colontrelle with 1 rushing touchdown, and Connor O'Brien with 1 receiving touchdown. Syrus Cooper completed a successful extra point kick for the Pirates. O'Brien led the team in all purpose yards, collecting 34 rushing yards and 200 receiving yards in the game. Mark Moore topped the defensive stats with 5 solo tackles and 3 assisted, followed closely by Seamus Moylan with 3 solo tackles and 3 assisted. Brody Crookshank and Cole Hessberger collected 1 sack apiece, and Matthew Vatland made a fumble recovery.
 
Next game is Homecoming on 10/3/25 versus Boca Raton Christian School, starting at 7:00 PM on the Michael J. Mersky Field.
