Varsity Track & Field Sees Great Showing at VBHS Preseason Classic
The varsity track & field team competed in the 2026 Vero Beach High School Preseason Classic on 2/11/26 on the newly opened Jimmy Graves Track Center in Vero Beach. In a field of 9 teams, the girls team finished 3rd place overall, and the boys team finished 4th place overall out of the 10 participating teams.
In girls track events, finishing far ahead of her nearest competitor, Jacquelyn Perrin secured a 1st place finish in the 3200m at a new personal best time of 11:43.55, and Sophie Cooper won the girls 1600m dash with her 1st place finish time of 5:59.51, setting a new personal record. Niah Boulding captured 3rd place in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:58.06, finishing only .02 seconds behind the 2nd place winner. Nahlia Hebig secured a 3rd place finish in the 3200m with a personal record time of 13:55.80, followed closely by teammate Cadence Callaghan in 4th place with 13:55.88, also a personal best. Emma Ramsay finished 5th in the 3200m with 14:36.18 to set a new personal record and placed 25th in the 400m with 1:27.28. Jaiya Hebig finished in 6th place in the 800m at 3:06.98, a personal record. Baylin Bischoff placed 7th in the 1600m with a personal best time of 6:43.26. Amajyn Cannon placed 9th in the 400m with 1:11.94. Kayla Jeune set personal records in both of her events,finishing in 12th place in the 100m (14.37) and 19th place in the 200m (30.84). Stephanie Storts placed 14th in the 400m at 1:15.09. Competing in her first event with the Pirate track team, Rosi Neumann finished 20th in the 400m with 1:17.89. In girls relay events, the 4x800 relay team of N. Hebig, Callaghan, Cooper, and Perrin won their event with a time of 10:57.47, and the team of J. Hebig, Storts, Boulding, and Ramsay finished 4th in the event with 12:16.67. Securing a 3rd place finish in the 4x400 relay at 5:13.89 was the relay team consisting of Bischoff, Cannon, Khloe Prochette, and Storts. Finishing in 7th place in the 4x100 relay (1:01.64) were Prochette, Neumann, Jeune, and Cannon. In girls field events, Mia Perez broke her previously set school record throw of 27.9m in Javelin with her 1st place throw of 29.62m and also grabbed a 2nd place finish in Discus with her 25.40m throw. Capturing 2nd place in Javelin was Stella Morris at 24.33m. Jeune finished in 6th place in Discus with her personal record 18:34 mark. Elexia Watson saw a 7th place finish in Javelin at 17.52m, and she placed 14th in Discus with 12.27m andfinished 15th in Shot Put at 5.42m. Morris placed 8th in Shot Put with her mark of 6.87m, followed closely by Perez with her 9th place mark of 6.80m. Morris also finished in 11th place in Discus at 15.29m. N. Hebig placed 15th in the Long Jump with 4.03m.
In boys track events, Jack Curley seizeda 1st place finish in the 800m with a finish time of 2:03.03, and he broke a previously held school record for the 400m to place 3rd place with 55.17. Finishing in 7th place in the 3200m was Kaan Mimaroglu with a time of 14:32.02. Jamin Dunham finished in 9th place in the 800m with a personal best 2:24.98 and placed 42nd in the 400m at 1:16.16. Cam Perrin finished the 1600m in 11th place to set a new personal best time of 5:18.98. Chris Perrin saw a 14th place finish in the 800m to set a new personal record time of 2:36.29 and placed 32nd in the 400m with 1:07.15. Trip Williams placed 19th in the 1600m with 6:11.03. Trey Donohoe finished in 21st place in the 800m with 2:45.24, and Reef Blackman placed 22nd in the 400m with 1:02.14. In boys relay events, the 4x800 relay team of Ch. Perrin, Ca. Perrin, Dunham, and Curley collected a 2nd place finish with a time of 9:26.34. In the 4x400 relay, Ca. Perrin, Ch. Perrin, Donohoe, and Blackman finished in 7th place (4:29.68). In boys field events, Matthew Cocks broke his previous school record in Discus with his 4th place 32.00m mark, and he collected an 8th place finish in Shot Put with his 9.63m personal best throw. Blackman recorded a 5th place finish in Javelin with his 27.67m throw and set a new personal record. Mimaroglu finished in 11th place in Shot Put with 6.52m and 12th place in Discus with 14.02m. Donohoe placed 22nd in the Long Jump at 4.46m.
