US Geography Grand Finale!

Fifth-grade students marked the end of their US Geography unit this week with a tasty celebration! Over the past several weeks, students memorized the locations and capitals of our 50 states and became "experts" on one state they chose. They created beautiful brochures to showcase their extensive research and delivered speeches highlighting their learning. At their end-of-unit "State Celebration," fifth graders contributed samples of foods that represent their states. Pizza from New York, mini King Cakes from Louisiana, smoked salmon from Alaska, huckleberry honey from Montana, brisket from Texas and apples dipped in maple syrup from Vermont were just some of the tasty offerings. Everyone had a great time and went home with full bellies!
