Where Words Come to Life

This week, our fifth graders have been actively engaged in reading, analyzing and creating poetry. Students explored various poetic forms and structures while identifying key literary devices, including imagery, similes, metaphors and rhyme schemes. Through close reading, they examined how poets use precise word choice and figurative language to convey meaning and evoke emotion. Students then planned, drafted and revised original poems, focusing on clear themes, organization and descriptive language.
