Varsity Track & Field Competes Over Spring Break in Bill Wilson Invite

The varsity track and field team took a focused squad to the 29th Bill Wilson Invitational at Sebastian River High School in Sebastian on 3/14/26. Despite competing during the final days of Spring Break with a smaller roster, the Pirates made their presence felt, securing a Top 5 team finish for the girls and several gritty individual performances on the boys team side. "Seeing our girls finish 5th overall with a 'skeleton crew' shows just how much talent we have across the board," said the coaching staff. "We are especially proud of the boys who tackled the 1600/3200 double. That kind of 'aerobic callusing' is exactly what builds the mental toughness needed for the District Championship in April."

In boys track events, Reef Blackman finished 9th in the 1600m with 5:33.74. In field events, Matthew Cocks placed 7th in Discus with his 31.47m throw as well as 7th in Javelin with his 27.95m mark.

In girls track events, Stephanie Storts medaled in the 800m with her 2nd place finish time of 2:38.09. In the 1600m, Cadence Callaghan captured 5th place with her 6:20.23 time, and teammate Emma Ramsay secured 7th place at a personal best 6:36.16. The 4x400 Relay team, consisting of Callaghan, Ramsay, Nahlia Hebig, and Storts, placed 4th with 4:43.39. In field events, Mia Perez grabbed a 2nd place finish with her Javelin throw of 26.38m and recorded a 3rd place finish in Discus with her 26.41m mark.
