Madeline Richards: Senior Spotlight

1. When did you start at SES?
  • Eighth grade
2. What were your favorite classes and/or extracurriculars?
  • Lacrosse, Golf, and being the Senior Design Editor of the yearbook
3. What’s an unforgettable memory from school?
  • My unforgettable moment was when the golf team made it to Districts, and we had to wake up at 4 am just to have our tee time postponed to 10. At the moment, we were all so angry, but we ended up making the best of it. We had a spectacular breakfast, then went on a beach walk that led to a photo shoot. Later, we were hungry again, so we needed more snacks. We went to Publix. After that, we were on our way to play 18 holes of golf.
4. Give a shoutout to your favorite class, teacher, mentor or coach.
  • First, I would like to thank all of my teachers who have ever taught me. You all have had an impact on me. The first person I would like to thank is Dr. Mohr, who was one of my first teachers at Saint Edwards's. He is such a kind human being. He is always there to talk and help you out. He is also my golf coach. I have so many great memories from the golf team because of him. He has taught me, coached me, and also taught me so much about life. The next teacher I would like to thank is Mr. Science Rogers. In the eighth grade, I did struggle in his class, but this helped me learn study techniques that I continue to use. Next, I would like to thank Mrs. Barnes for being an amazing English teacher. She truly helped me improve my writing and reading comprehension. She was always there for me whenever I needed help in her class or in other classes. The last person I would like to thank is Mrs. Stalquist, who has been teaching me since the summer of my first year. She has truly seen me grow as a person. She has always been there for me, whether that is academically or just in life.
5. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to an underclassman?
  • My piece of advice is to soak in all that Saint Edward’s has to offer. Don't be afraid to try new things and branch out of your comfort zone. You are only in high school once. Make sure you make the most of it. There will be ups and downs, but it's all about how you persevere and keep pushing towards your goals.
