Model Magic Manatees!

Shelby Fontana
After a unit on manatees, second graders had a hands-on learning experience creating manatees from Model Magic. Students explored the characteristics of manatees, learned about their warm coastal habitats, how they are important to our ecosystem, and why these gentle animals are endangered. Affectionately referred to as “sea cows,” the manatees’ closest relative is the elephant–two fun facts students were delighted to discover. This creative activity helped bring learning to life in a memorable and engaging way.
