Welcome to the Lower School Experience at SES
At Saint Edward's School, we believe it is important to establish a relationship based on trust with our young students in order to build a strong and safe foundation that allows the children to approach their learning journey with confidence. A strong sense of trust enables them to pursue their curiosity and wonder.
Problem-solving and learning strategies begin in our preschool programs. The teachers at all levels create age-appropriate problems and encourage the children to solve the problems either in a group setting or individually. This problem-solving method is not exclusive to math but is effective in solving social issues and academic questions across the curriculum. This approach encourages self-reliance and creates capable life-long learners.

Our daughter is so happy and that makes us happy also. She feels safe and is coming home fulfilled with all the new learning experiences. She has excellent teachers and is getting exposed to Spanish and music which I feel are so important.
PE is another highlight, as is the playground. She has enough space and time to run around and play so she is tired at the end of the day and goes to bed happy! We have been extremely pleased with the experience our daughter is having in the Lower School at Saint Edward's School.

Second Grade Scientists Test Water’s Superpower
Read MoreMr. Ange’s second-grade classes turned into young scientists as they carefully dropped water onto a shiny penny, one tiny drop at a time. They were amazed to see the water pile up like a little bubble, learning that water molecules like to stick together—a concept called cohesion. Excited guesses and cheers filled the room as they tested how many drops the penny could hold before the dome finally spilled over! -
Crowning Our Love for Fairytales!
In the Lower School Library this week, students brought a touch of magic to their reading time by crafting colorful paper crowns to celebrate their journey through classic and fractured fairytales. As part of our ongoing exploration of storytelling, this creative activity helped students connect more deeply with the characters and themes in the tales they’ve been reading. Making crowns not only encouraged imaginative play, but also supported fine motor skills and provided an engaging way to reinforce comprehension. The library was full of smiles, sparkles, and storytelling as young readers crowned themselves kings, queens, and heroes of their own literary adventures!Read More -
Reading Buddies Bring Stories to Life!
We're excited to share how our small stuffed animals—lovingly known as Reading Buddies—are making a big difference in our library! These cozy companions offer comfort and encouragement as students read. Whether a child is reading aloud or enjoying a quiet story, a Reading Buddy provides a friendly, judgment-free audience that helps build confidence, focus, and a love for books. Students have found that having a soft friend nearby makes reading time even more inviting and fun.Read More
