Seventh Grade Visits the County Courthouse

(lk)
On Tuesday, the entire seventh grade visited the Indian River County Courthouse to help them better understand the criminal justice system. English teachers Mrs. Durand and Mrs. Wengler wanted to give the students this experience, as they are reading several novels in class where the main characters must face the legal consequences of their actions. Specifically, these novels include Touching Spirit Bear, Peak and The Outsiders. Many thanks to Judge David C. Morgan of the 19th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida for allowing us to visit his courtroom while he performed his duties on a very busy day and for spending time answering our questions during a recess. We also want to thank all of the officers and court personnel who guided us throughout our visit, especially Cindy Carlsward, Chief Deputy Courts and Recording, and Officer Harrington.
