Varsity Boys Basketball Extinguishes the Firehawks in District Quarterfinals
The varsity boys basketball team competed in the Class 1A District 8 Quarterfinals on 2/3/26 against the Brevard HEAT in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center. The Pirates overwhelmed the Firehawks to clench the 80-59 victory and to advance to the District Semifinals.
Leading the Pirates toward the victory was Jayzere Cannon with 24 points, 5 assists, 12 rebounds, and 4 steals. Cody Simmonds, who sank 17 points, led the Pirates in rebounds with 13. Wyatt Burdick netted 12 points, 3 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block. Trey Dunlap, who saw 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block, and Daniel Ciceron, who had 3 rebounds and 2 assists, each recorded 8 points for the Pirate team. Cole Register amassed 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. Trip Williams collected 2 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound, and 3 blocks; and Kaleb Jones put forth 2 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound, and 2 steals. Daniel Clemente added 1 block for the Pirates.
Next game is the Class 1A District 8 Semifinals on 2/5/26 versus Morningside Academy, starting at 6:00 PM in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center.
