The varsity volleyball team competed at home against The Pine School on 9/12/23. Hungry for a win, the determined Pirates won their hard-fought first set 27-25. Despite narrowly losing the second set 25-2, the Pirate team pushed back to win set three 25-51. Finding themselves down 22-25 in the fourth set, the Pirates preserved 15-13 in the fifth set to overthrow the Knights and secure the victory.
CJ Fykes had a big game for the Pirates, amassing 10 kills, 4 aces, 11 digs, and 1 block. Meagan Baker's 10 kills, 1 assist, 3 aces, 3 digs, and 1 block helped the Pirate team dominate the court. Vital contributions by Elliotte Kahler (35 assists, 3 aces, 13 digs) helped propel the Pirates toward victory. Natalee Rogers, who led the team in digs with 29, also recorded 1 kills and 3 assists, and teammate Makena Rodriguez followed closely with 18 digs, 10 kills, and 5 aces of her own. Sommer Soderman collected 3 kills, 4 aces, and 14 digs for the Pirates. Also helping secure the Pirate win were Alice Crean with 4 kills, 1 assist, and 4 digs and Khlieo Perez with 7 kills and 4 digs.
Next game is at home on 9/15/23 versus Calvary Chapel Academy, starting at 6:30 PM in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center.
