Varsity Girls Basketball Named Runners-Up in D5 Alive Tournament

The varsity girls basketball team recently participated in the 9th Annual D5 Alive Tournament in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center. On 1/23/26, the Pirates played Master's Academy of Vero in the playoff game, starting with a big lead and holding off the Patriots with hard work throughout the game. The Pirates ultimately defeated the Patriots 37-31 to move on to the Championship round.

Scoreboard highlights from 1/23: Amajyn Cannon - 15 points, Halle Grella - 11, Shaniya Bryant - 6, Nahlia Hebig - 4, and Sloane Weber - 1.

The Pirates faced off against The Benjamin School on 1/24/25 in the Championship round. The Pirates kept the 1st quarter close against the Buccaneers, trailing only 10-12, but saw the gap widen to 16-30 by halftime. The Pirates outscored the Buccaneers in the 2nd half, but it wasn't enough to surpass their opponents, as they fell 37-46 to finish as the tournament runners-up.
