International COVID Conversations Via Skype

(lk)
The students in Mrs. Bischoff's History 6-2 class had the opportunity to participate in a Skype call with Italy. The students asked and answered questions about how their country and area were responding to the COVID pandemic. The Italians shared that their area has been divided into zones and categorized depending on percentages of COVID spread. Their area was a red zone over Christmas, and no one was allowed to leave the house. Our students were surprised to hear that when the Italians leave their homes they have to have a paper to show to the police where they live and what the purpose of their errand is. They aren't allowed to travel freely from neighborhood to neighborhood like we are. It was a great conversation, where both sets of students had the opportunity to reflect on how this pandemic is affecting all of us around the globe.
