Airboating for Environmental Health

AP Environmental Science students traveled by airboat to observe the reclaimed wetlands of Garcia Marsh. These wetlands were restored to reduce flooding, maintain natural hydrologic cycles and provide improved water quality and wildlife habitat. The trip was an introduction to their upcoming unit on human impacts on watersheds and wetlands, as well as the solutions necessary to improve human and environmental health. Students explored these managed wetlands firsthand, gaining a unique perspective that they will apply to their studies in the coming weeks.
