Phenomenal Showing at Districts by Varsity Track & Field

On 4/18/26, the varsity track and field team delivered an impressive performance at the Class 1A District 13 Tournament held at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens. The girls team secured the District Runner-Up trophy with their overall team score of 141, shattering 5 school records and crowning 6 individual district champions in their events. The boys team placed a notable 4th place overall with 54 points. “Today was about execution and team culture,” the coaching staff noted. “We asked our athletes to step into new events and embrace the uncomfortable for the sake of the team score. The results speak for themselves: 24 different athletes scored points, and we witnessed 16 individual personal records (PRs).”

In girls track events, Jacquelyn Perrin won both the 1600m with 5:34.05 and the 3200m with 12:31.40, and she finished as runner-up in the 800m with 2:30.82. Taking top 8 honors in the 1600m were Sophie Cooper in 4th place (5:58.21), Nahlia Hebig in 5th place (6:04.41), and Stephanie Storts in 7th place (6:10.01). Storts finished 6th in the 800m with 2:44.39, followed closely by teammate Cooper in 7th place with 2:44.68. In 100 Hurdles, Amajyn Cannon finished in 5th place with 19.67, and Savannah Shambo finished in 7th with 20.43. Cadence Callaghan set a new school record with her 6th place finish in 400 Hurdles at 1:15.15, and was followed by Cannon in 7th place with 1:17.79, a personal record. In the relay events, the girls 4x800m relay team, consisting of Callaghan, Cooper, Hebig, and J. Perrin, achieved a 3rd place finish at 10:55.93. In the 4x100m relay, the relay team of Khloe Prochette, Rosi Neumann, Kayla Jeune, and Shambo finished in 4th place with 57.69. The 4x400m relay team of Storts, Cannon, Callaghan, and Cooper placed 5th with 4:47.83. In girls field events, Mia Perez grabbed the gold medal in both Javelin with her 25.17m throw and in Discus with her new school record throw of 31.73m; and she secured the silver medal in Shot Put with her 8.73m mark, a personal best. Finishing consecutively in the Javelin for the Pirates were Stella Morris in 3rd place with 21.10m, Tirzah Boulding in 4th place with 19.65m, and Elexia Watson in 5th with 18.22m. Scoring points for the girls team in Shot Put were Morris in 4th place with 7.22m and Watson in 7th place with 5.15m. In Discus, Jeune finished in 7th place with her 18.30m throw, and Morris placed 8th with her 17.98m mark. Finishing in the top 8 for Triple Jump were Jeune in 5th place at 9.22m, Shambo in 6th place at 9.10m, and Boulding in 8th place with a personal best of 8.00m. In the Long Jump, Hebig placed 8th with her 3.80m mark.

In boys track events, Jack Curley was crowned the champion in both of his events, finishing the 1600m with 4:45.78 and the 3200m with 10:45.34. Finishing closely behind their teammate in the 3200m to claim top honors were Jamin Dunham in 2nd place with 10:48.45 and Chris Perrin in 3rd place with 11:14.11. Cam Perrin placed 8th in the 1600m with 5:13.78, a personal best. Reef Blackman finished in 6th place in the 400 Hurdles at 1:04.83 to set a new school record and finished in 8th place in the 110 Hurdles with 20.24. In the relay events, the boys 4x800 relay team of Ca. Perrin, Ch. Perrin, Ian Wallace, and Finn Ensio placed 6th with their time of 10:25.01. In boys field events, Matthew Cocks secured a solid 3rd place finish in Discus with his 36.92m throw to set a new school record. Cocks also placed 5th in Javelin with his 32.91m mark and set a new school record in Shot Put with his 7th place throw of 10.80m.
